Track fuel efficiency across trips by entering the distance driven and the amount of fuel consumed. The calculator returns miles per gallon (MPG), kilometers per liter (km/L), or liters per 100 kilometers (L/100km) depending on the units selected. An optional fuel price field produces a cost-per-distance-unit breakdown and total fuel cost for the trip.

  • Enter the Distance Driven in the text field. Whole numbers, decimals, fractions (3/4), and mixed numbers (175 1/2) are all accepted.
  • Select the Distance Unit from the dropdown: Miles or Kilometers.
  • Enter the Fuel Used for the trip. Partial fill-ups can be expressed as fractions or decimals.
  • Select the Fuel Unit: Gallons or Liters.
  • Optionally enter the Fuel Price per Unit to see cost breakdowns. Dollar signs and commas are stripped automatically.
  • Click Calculate or wait for auto-calculation after typing. Results appear below the form.
  • Open Settings to enable the step-by-step formula view, which displays the substitution and arithmetic behind each result.
  • Enable Show L/100km in Settings to display the metric liters-per-100-kilometers figure alongside the primary efficiency result.
  • The formula for miles per gallon is: MPG = Distance / Fuel Used. For kilometers per liter: km/L = Distance / Fuel Used. For liters per 100 km: L/100km = (Fuel Used / Distance) x 100.
  • Click Reset to clear all fields and stored data, returning every input to its default value.
