Enter financial data from your income statement and balance sheet to generate operational efficiency ratios across profitability, turnover, and cash cycle categories. Fill in only the fields you have available, and the calculator will compute every ratio that can be derived from your inputs. All fields accept decimals, fractions (3/4), mixed numbers (5 1/2), and values with dollar signs or commas, which are stripped automatically before processing.
- Enter Revenue and Cost of Goods Sold in the Income Statement section to compute gross profit margin and the COGS-to-revenue ratio. Gross margin is calculated as (Revenue minus COGS) divided by Revenue, multiplied by 100.
- Provide Operating Income alongside Revenue to see the operating margin, which measures the percentage of revenue remaining after operating costs. The formula is Operating Income divided by Revenue, multiplied by 100.
- Add Operating Expenses to calculate the operating expense ratio, showing what share of revenue goes toward running the business. The formula is Operating Expenses divided by Revenue, multiplied by 100.
- Enter Net Income with Revenue to derive net profit margin, and with Total Assets to derive return on assets (ROA). ROA reveals how effectively assets generate profit.
- Fill in Total Assets, Net Fixed Assets, or Current Assets and Current Liabilities under Balance Sheet to unlock efficiency ratios. Asset turnover equals Revenue divided by Total Assets. Working capital turnover equals Revenue divided by the difference between Current Assets and Current Liabilities.
- Provide Average Inventory with COGS to compute inventory turnover (COGS divided by Average Inventory) and days inventory outstanding (Average Inventory divided by COGS, multiplied by the days-in-year setting).
- Enter Accounts Receivable with Revenue for days sales outstanding, and Accounts Payable with COGS for days payable outstanding. When all three day-based ratios can be computed, the cash conversion cycle appears automatically as DIO plus DSO minus DPO.
- Click the Settings link to adjust decimal precision, change the days-in-year value, or toggle step-by-step formula display. When Show step-by-step formulas is checked, each ratio shows the symbolic formula, the substituted values, and the final answer.
