Documentation

Use this profit calculator to determine your net earnings after all marketplace fees, production costs, and shipping expenses. Select your selling platform from the dropdown menu at the top, enter your sale details, and view an instant breakdown of every fee applied to your transaction. The calculator supports five major online marketplaces, each with its own fee structure pre-configured for accuracy.

  • Select your Marketplace from the dropdown. Choose from Etsy, Amazon, eBay, Shopify, or Walmart. Each marketplace loads its specific fee rates automatically.
  • Enter the Sale Price, which is the amount your customer pays for the item before shipping.
  • Enter the Shipping Charged amount, which is the shipping fee your customer pays at checkout. Some marketplaces apply transaction fees to this amount as well.
  • Enter your Material and Item Cost, which covers raw materials, production, packaging, and any other costs to create or source the product.
  • Enter your Actual Shipping Cost, which is what you pay for the shipping label or courier service.
  • Check Apply Offsite/Promoted Ads Fee if the sale resulted from a marketplace advertising program. The percentage varies by platform and can be customized in settings.
  • Click Calculate to see your net profit, profit margin percentage, and a detailed fee breakdown. Results update automatically as you type after a brief delay.
  • Click Reset to clear all fields and start a new calculation. Open Settings to override any default fee rate with your own values, or enable Show step-by-step breakdown to see the math behind each fee calculation.
  • The calculator accepts decimal values (12.50), fractions (3/4), and mixed numbers (5 1/2) in all numeric fields. Dollar signs and commas are stripped automatically.

Compare profitability across multiple selling platforms to make informed decisions about where to list your products. This calculator helps sellers at every level understand the true cost of doing business on each marketplace.

  • Etsy Sellers: Calculate profit on handmade goods by factoring in the $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing, and optional 15% offsite ads fee to understand your true per-item earnings.
  • Amazon Sellers: Determine net profit after the 15% referral fee and per-item fee to decide whether Fulfillment by Amazon or self-shipping produces better margins on your products.
  • eBay Resellers: Factor in the 13.25% final value fee plus the $0.30 per-order surcharge to price items competitively while maintaining a healthy profit margin on each sale.
  • Shopify Store Owners: Since Shopify charges only payment processing fees and no marketplace commission, use the calculator to see how much more profit you retain compared to third-party marketplaces.
  • Multi-Channel Sellers: Enter the same product details across all five marketplaces to compare net profit side by side and determine the most profitable platform for each product category.
  • Pricing Strategy: Work backward from a target profit margin by adjusting the sale price until you reach your desired earnings after all fees and costs are deducted.
  • New Sellers: Understand the full fee landscape before committing to a platform by seeing exactly how much each marketplace takes from a hypothetical sale at various price points.
  • Wholesale and Bulk: Evaluate whether bulk purchasing at lower material costs produces sufficient margin improvement to justify larger inventory investments on your preferred selling platform.
