Documentation

A shop audit checklist scores an online storefront against the optimization items that matter most for its marketplace. Five major platforms are covered: Etsy, Amazon, Shopify, eBay, and Walmart. Each platform's checklist holds 25 items organized into five categories reflecting the areas that most affect visibility, trust, and conversion on that specific marketplace, since a factor that drives Etsy search placement is not necessarily the same factor Amazon or Walmart weigh most heavily.

  • Checking off an item marks it as already satisfied by the shop; the Shop Score reports the share of the 25 items marked complete, as a percentage, and updates as items are checked or unchecked.
  • Each category also carries its own score, narrowing attention to a specific set of five items rather than the full 25 when one category lags the rest. Categories typically cover shop setup, product presentation, and customer trust signals, the same broad areas that determine how a listing performs in search and how a buyer decides whether to purchase.
  • Auto-save persists checklist progress in the browser, and each marketplace keeps its own saved progress, so several shops can be audited independently without one overwriting another.

A score below 40 percent signals foundational gaps. From 40 to 70 percent, targeted fixes will move the needle. From 70 to 90 percent, the fundamentals are strong and the remaining work is polish. Above 90 percent reflects an optimized storefront. A high overall score can still hide a weak category if the other four are strong enough to carry the average, which is why the per-category breakdown matters as much as the single headline percentage. Re-running the audit monthly tracks improvement over time and catches areas that may have slipped since the last pass.

Online sellers operate across multiple platforms, each with its own optimization requirements. This checklist helps identify gaps in shop setup, product presentation, and customer trust signals. Use it as a regular health check to maintain competitive listings and maximize visibility.

  • New Seller Onboarding: Complete the full audit before launching a new shop to ensure every foundational element is in place. Cover product photography, listing descriptions, and shop policies from the start.
  • Multi-Platform Sellers: Audit Etsy, Amazon, Shopify, eBay, and Walmart storefronts independently. Identify which platform needs the most attention and prioritize improvements accordingly.
  • Monthly Performance Review: Run the audit at the start of each month to track progress over time. Compare the current score to previous audits and focus on categories where the score has dropped.
  • E-commerce Consultants: Use the checklist during client onboarding to assess a shop quickly and produce a prioritized improvement plan for a chosen marketplace.
  • Product Launch Preparation: Before launching a new product line, audit existing listings to ensure photography standards, keyword optimization, and description quality meet platform best practices.
  • Competitive Analysis: Audit a shop against the checklist criteria, then review competitor shops using the same standards. Identify areas where competitors excel and adjust strategy.
  • Team Training: Share the checklist with team members responsible for listing management. Use it as a training document to standardize quality across all listings and ensure consistent brand presentation.
  • Seasonal Preparation: Run the audit before peak selling periods such as holiday seasons or promotional events. Confirm that all listings, policies, and fulfillment settings are current and optimized for increased traffic volume.
