Unlike simple unit converters, this tool accounts for the density of the material being measured, making it essential for accurate conversions in cooking, science, and construction. Enter a value in one measurement system and instantly receive the equivalent in the other.

  • Select Volume to Weight or Weight to Volume to set the conversion direction.
  • Choose a substance from the Substance dropdown. The tool includes over 50 preset substances organized by category, including common liquids, flours, sugars, dairy, grains, and construction materials.
  • Select Custom Density... from the substance list to enter a specific density in grams per milliliter (g/mL) for substances not in the preset list.
  • Enter the value to convert in the Value field. Accepted formats include decimals (0.75), fractions (3/4), mixed numbers (1 1/2 or 1-1/2), and scientific notation (1.5e3).
  • Choose the appropriate Volume Unit and Weight Unit from their respective dropdowns. Volume options include metric (milliliters, liters), US customary (cups, fluid ounces, gallons), imperial (UK pints, UK gallons), and cubic measurements. Weight options span metric (grams, kilograms), US and imperial (ounces, pounds, stones), and troy weights (carats, grains, troy ounces).
  • Click Convert or wait for the automatic calculation to display the result. The core formula is: weight = volume (in mL) multiplied by density (g/mL), then converted to the selected weight unit.
  • Open Settings to adjust the number of decimal places, configure the molecular weight for mole conversions, or enable the step-by-step formula display.
